A talented resident at a Sanctuary Care home in Chester is continuing her love of painting during a weekly art club with fellow residents.
Lilian Flitcroft, who lives at Upton Dene Residential and Nursing Home, discovered a passion for art after retiring from her career as a languages teacher and signing up for painting classes.
Now, with support from the team at the not-for-profit Sanctuary Care home, Lilian is continuing to develop her skills and enjoy her favourite hobby at the home's art club.
It makes me smile inside when I am painting. It makes me feel happy and relaxed," said Lilian, 93, who has lived at Upton Dene in Caldecott Close for more than a year.
"When I'm painting, it feels like nothing else matters because Iβm completely absorbed in what you're doing. Seeing a painting come to life in front of you is really special.
"People do tell me I'm talented, but I think everyone has a talent. I can't sing or play the piano - everyone can do something different.
Β The homeβs art club takes place every Friday and is run by Lifestyle and Wellbeing Coordinators Kirsty Wood and Helen Moroney, with Lilian sharing her tips and advice. Her paintings often inspire other residents to get involved and have a go themselves.

"Painting brings Lilian so much happiness and it's lovely to see her share that with her fellow residents.
"Many of our residents have hobbies and interests they've enjoyed for years, and we try to help them continue doing the things that are important to them. Lilian is always eager to get involved in our art club and she's created some beautiful pieces since joining us at Upton Dene."
Lilian is currently working on a collection of festive paintings and handmade cards, which will be available to buy at the home's community Christmas fayre on 10 December, 5pm to 7.30pm.
