Growing demand from customers in Chester and Cheshire is helping fuel a major expansion for two award-winning businesses specialising in renewable energy and luxury leisure installations.
Entrepreneur Gareth Jones has brought Carbon Zero Renewables and UK Leisure Living together at a new 24,000 square foot headquarters in St Asaph, North Wales, following continued investment and growth across both companies.
A Key Market
Chester and the surrounding Cheshire area have become an important market for the businesses, which provide solar panels, battery storage, hot tubs, swim spas, swimming pools and infrared saunas to domestic and commercial customers.
The new premises at Caer Delyn Buildings on Glascoed Road are four times the combined size of their previous locations in Mochdre and Colwyn Bay, providing additional space to expand their services and support customers across the region and further afield.
The Two Businesses
Carbon Zero has established itself in the renewable energy sector, delivering solar PV and battery installations designed to help households and businesses reduce energy bills and improve sustainability.
Meanwhile, UK Leisure Living has sold more than 3,000 hot tubs over the last decade and diversified into swimming pool installation, offering a complete service from initial design and construction through to landscaping and aftercare.
Gareth, who is approaching 18 years in business, said Chester and Cheshire would remain central to the group's growth plans:
It’s been a really good move for us, and it comes as there is a real upward trajectory and momentum across both businesses.
The last few years have been challenging for many sectors. Geopolitical issues, rising costs and changing consumer confidence have all had an impact, and our industries have certainly not been immune to that.
But we kept moving forward, diversifying and investing, and now we have two complementary, award-winning companies together in one fantastic location.
The New Headquarters
The new headquarters include offices, a customer suite, a retail outlet and a spacious showroom displaying hot tubs, swim spas and infrared saunas.
With excellent road links into Chester, Cheshire and the wider North West, the investment provides a larger base for both businesses as they look to strengthen their presence in existing markets and attract new customers.
Carbon Zero has delivered renewable energy projects for organisations including Mostyn Estates, Techniquest in Cardiff, Palins, Salisbury & Co Accountants and the Waterloo Hotel in Betws-y-Coed, alongside residential installations.
Gareth said the financial benefits of renewable technology were proving particularly important to customers, with some installations helping to reduce energy bills by thousands of pounds.
He added:
St Asaph is perfect for us. We are centrally positioned in North Wales but have customers across the UK, there is excellent access and parking, and we have the space to grow and give customers a better experience.
Combining Services
Bringing the businesses together also opens up opportunities to combine renewable energy technology with leisure installations, particularly for customers looking to manage the running costs of swimming pools, hot tubs and other facilities.
The landscape has changed and we’ve changed with it,
said Gareth.
Customers increasingly want a turnkey solution. With UK Leisure Living we can take somebody from their first conversation about a swimming pool, hot tub, swim spa or sauna right through the whole process, including the landscaping and finishing touches.
He added:
Then we have all that renewable energy experience within Carbon Zero, so there are plenty of opportunities for the two businesses to work together.
We’ve got a fantastic team here and that’s a huge part of why I’m so positive about where we’re heading.
Plans for 2027
Gareth has dubbed the next phase of expansion Project Growth, with further investment and a renewed commercial push planned ahead of 2027:
We can utilise the space here even better and there are a lot of opportunities,
he said.
We have plenty of ideas about what comes next, so watch this space. It’s an exciting time for both businesses and I can see 2027 being a very good year for us.
